Also why is it called a ballroom? I understand that the party used to be called a “ball” but why a ball? Was it because everyone was having a ball? Does anyone know?

About where the word Ball comes from.
In swedish the event is called “bal” and the round thing is called “boll”.
So probably it’s two different words…
Humm.. that makes sense.. i figured it was something like that.. over time words get shortened or changed..

It’s called a ballroom because, in Old French, the word “baller” means “to dance.”
Really? Perfect!! that’s what i was looking for.. due to kimbly i’ve learned many of our werid words come from things like this..
